Spokane County Library District: Extended library hours are scheduled to begin in July

All Spokane County’s libraries are currently open to the public, and we plan to extend our hours on July 6th. All anticipated changes for July 6th listed below are subject to change according to instructions and guidelines from Washington state and local authorities. We look forward to assisting you in the library with our services, resources, and programs. As the requirements for the pandemic reopening continue to evolve, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we can provide more, but not all, of the services, resources, and programs that were available prior to the pandemic. This is what awaits you when you visit your library. OPENING HOURS Our facilities are currently open Monday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on days when the library is normally open. (See below for the open days for each library.)
On July 6, our opening hours will be extended to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, on days when the library is normally open, with the exception of The BookEnd, which will be extended from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Roadside collection continues in all libraries. PRECAUTIONS & UPCOMING CHANGES Fully vaccinated individuals can use the library without a mask.
Unvaccinated customers 5 years and older are required to continue to wear a mask in the library according to state guidelines.
The capacity is currently limited to 50% and the occupancy limits are posted in every library. From July 6th, the capacity will be expanded to 100%.
Library visits are currently limited to 1 hour or less. This limit will be lifted on July 6th.
On July 6th, dunning fees will be activated again.
Hand disinfectants are available at all service desks and at other locations in the library.
Eating and drinking is not currently allowed in the library. Eating and drinking is allowed in the library from July 6th.
The cleaning protocols continue in the library. AVAILABLE SERVICES Computers can be used for the inspection upon prior reservation and, if available. You can make a reservation by going online, calling, and speaking to the library staff in person. To use a computer without a reservation, visit a service desk to speak to library staff about availability.

Virtual programs continue to be offered each month on a variety of topics including stories, crafts, trivia, small business programs, and more! Individual virtual Book-a-Librarian appointments for personal support
Engage: Our guide to digital resources and services includes almost all of our digital resources available to your home. Engage is available in print from the library, on-road pickup (ask for Engage’s digital copy), and online.
Book shelves are open.
Limited public seating is currently available in the library. On July 6th, comfortable group and group seating will be set up again. On July 6th, these rooms will be available for reservations and walk-in use during opening hours if they are not used as storage or by staff.
The library program is currently suspended.
The lab in the North Spokane Library and the studio in the Spokane Valley Library are currently closed.
DVDs and music CDs are not available through the interlibrary loan program.
Many of our Library of Things articles are currently unavailable.
The placement program is currently suspended.
The sale of used books is stopped.
Book donations are currently not accepted.
