Second teen charged in fatal shooting in Everett

A second teenager has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man in Everett, Middlesex prosecutors said Friday.

Luiz M. Perlera, 18, of Lunenberg, is charged with aiding and abetting following the October 22 fatal shooting of Craig McDonald of Randolph, prosecutors said in a statement.

The indictment comes two days after prosecutors announced the arrest of Michael Stanton Jr., 19, from Chelsea, who is charged with the murder of McDonald.

McDonald was sitting in a car with two friends on Revere and Second Street when he was shot through the driver’s side window just before 8 p.m. last Friday, prosecutors said.

Officials responding to the scene were notified by CHA Everett Hospital that McDonald had arrived there alone with gunshot wounds. He was later pronounced dead in the hospital.

Stanton turned himself in to the Everett police on Tuesday night. During his indictment in Malden District Court on Wednesday, he was held on bail for murder.

Perlera is said to have destroyed evidence after the shooting, the prosecutor said. He was arrested at his home on Thursday by the Massachusetts State Police Task Force to Forcibly Arrest Refugees.

During his indictment on Friday, Perlera was ordered to be detained on $ 50,000 bail, prosecutors said. He was also ordered to wear a GPS monitoring bracelet, remain under house arrest, and stay away from witnesses and have no contact.

Prosecutors said that his next trial is scheduled for December 13th.
