Conchita Sahagun

Conchita “Connie” Palacol Sahagun, 72, from Papaikou, died on May 27, 2021 at the Pohai Malama Care Center of Hawaii Care Choices. Born in Papaikou, she was a retired employee of the State Child Support Penitentiary and a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Filipino Catholic Club, Kalanianaole School Class of 1964, and Hilo High School Class of 1967.

Friends can call the upper carport of Dodo Mortuary from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. June 13 for a tour of the urn.

She is survived by her husband Rudy Sahagun von Papaikou; Daughter Christie (Jason) Zimmer from Keaau; Ron (Rachel) Sahagun from Las Vegas; Brothers Felipe (Daisy) Rosario of San Bruno, Calif. And Juan (Victoria) Palacol Jr. of Bothell, Washington; Sisters Clarita (Ed) Ayson of Mililani, Oahu and Nancy (Allen) Peterson of Vancouver, Washington; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mark Chamberlin

Mark Allen Chamberlin, 69, of Volcano Village, died in Pohai Malama on May 30, 2021. Born on Maui, he was the former owner of Lava Rock Backhoe Services and retired as a heavy equipment operator with Operator Engineers Union Local 3.

Private services held.

He leaves behind his wife, Rae Chamberlin of Volcano; Son, Chad Chamberlin Sr. of Kailua-Kona; Hanai daughter Jonelle (Jimmy) Vita of Hilo; Brother Bruce (Leinaala) Chamberlin of Waimea; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Harry Pacheco Jr.

Harry Pacheco Jr., 67, of Hilo, died in Hilo on May 28, 2021. Born in Hilo on March 19, 1954, he was a Cane Truck driver with the former Hilo Coast Sugar Processing Co., a US Navy Seal, and a member of numerous motorcycle clubs and the Glad Tidings Church in Hilo.

Friends can call Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a tour from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 13th. Cremation follows.

He leaves behind daughter Patricia Pacheco-Kaniho from Hilo; Sons, Shane Pacheco from Modesto, Calif., Norman Apana and Vernon (Tyra) Kaniho from Hilo; Sister Claire Pacheco Mays of Kansas City, Missouri; Brother Brian Pacheco of Hilo; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Cresca Babas

Cresencia Quinto Babas, 88, from Pepeekeo, died in Hilo on Monday, May 31, 2021. Born April 1933 in Lipit, Manaoag, Pangasinan, Philippines, she was a factory worker at Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co.

Friends can call the dodo morgue on June 18 at 9:00 am for a 10:30 am service. Burial follows at Alae Cemetery (New Section).

She leaves her husband Marcelino Babas Sr. from Pepeekeo; Marcelino (Judy) Babas Jr. from Honolulu, Ricarte (Chloe) Babas, Relito Babas and Frankilito (Christina) Babas from Keaau, Francisco (Chelsea) Babas from Hilo, Teodorico (Guylyn) Babas from Mountain View, Grace (Stephanie) Babas from Portland, Oregon, Christopher (Samantha) Babas from Pepeekeo and Sherilyn (Selson) Babas from Pawtucket, Rhode Island; 34 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; Brothers Genaro (Nenita) Quinto and Alejandro (Mamita) Quinto from the Philippines; Sisters Trinidad (Ignacio) Juanitez and Felisa (Rodolfo) Aspiras from the Philippines; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
