Storytime on the Square is hosted by MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) from Bedford on Fridays at 10 a.m. in June and July, weather permitting. Storytime is free and public. There are children’s stories and live music. Bring a chair or blanket. Storytime takes place near the pavilion.

The 1962 Everett High School Class meets at noon on June 16 at Kelly’s Scenic Restaurant in Everett for a reunion dinner.

The Everett Alumni Association meets on June 15 at 5:30 p.m. at Ed’s Steak House in Bedford. If you want to eat something, arrive at 5.30pm. The meeting starts at 6.15 p.m.

The Bedford County Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) will meet on June 9th at 11:30 am at Hoss’s Restaurant, near the Bedford Turnpike Interchange. The Bloody Run Historical Society will meet on June 7th at 5 p.m. at the Railroad and Community Museum, located along Fifth Street near North Spring Street in Everett. People who want to help maintain the museum are asked to take part.

The Everett Railroad and Community Museum will honor the Juneteenth from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on June 19 with a presentation by local resident Delores Marshall Myers on the African American heritage in the Everett area. She’ll be showing photos, hosting a question-and-answer session, and be in the process of dedicating an original pew from Everett’s only African American church as part of the community museum’s archives. There are no entry costs. The museum is open every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Everett Free Library’s June Historic Exhibition celebrates the Juneteenth celebrations as a tribute to Everett’s African American heritage. The exhibition was arranged by Bloody Run Historical Society volunteer Barbara Hummel. It is a reference to the presentation by speaker Delores Marshall Myers on June 19 at the Railroad and Community Museum.

The 1981 Chestnut Ridge High School class will meet on June 4th at 6:30 pm for a reunion planning meeting at Ed’s Steak House. Make a reservation by calling 814-979-3395.

The 1970 Bedford High School Class celebrates their 50 + 1 class reunion on September 12th. Classmates will meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Colonnade Ballroom of the Omni Bedford Springs Resort. Payments are due by July 1st. For information send an email to [email protected].

The quarterly meeting of the Frontier Patriots Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be held at noon on June 12 at Dream Restaurant, 1500 Allegheny St., Hollidaysburg. Current CDC guidelines are followed. The chapter covers the counties of Bedford, Blair, Clearfield and Huntingdon. All current members are cordially invited to participate, as well as all males aged 18 and over. Any man who can show that he is directly descended from a patriot who served in the Revolutionary War or helped American colonists during the Revolution is eligible for membership in the SAR.

Kennametal Men is hosting a breakfast for retirees at Denny’s Restaurant in Bedford on June 29th at 8:00 am.

Bedford Elks Country Club has bingo on the first and second Wednesdays. The games are public. Admission is at 5.30 p.m. Early bird bingo starts at 6:00 p.m. and the main games start at 6:30 p.m. There is food and a bar with cash. Participants must be at least 18 years old to play.

Youth Field Day takes place on June 5th at Bedford County’s Sportsmen’s Club. The day of study and outdoor activities for all youth ages 9-15 includes archery, shotgun shooting, .22 rifle shooting, fishing, muzzle loading, trapping and birdhouse building, obstacle course, canoeing ATA safety. The Everett Free Library hosts personal storytelling on Fridays at 11 a.m. weather permitting. The story lesson takes place outdoors in the front yard of the library, where families are socially distant. Bring chairs or blankets. Each child receives a craft kit every week. The Everett American Legion will celebrate Flag Day at the Legion Home adjacent to Morral’s Farm Supply and along the fourth venue, Everett, at 6 p.m. on June 14th. Build the Beef Barn is holding a 50/50 giveaway with the giveaway at the Fair Livestock Auction on July 31st. Donations from individuals and businesses to support the cost of building cattle sheds at the Bedford County Fairgrounds are welcome and can be made through the Somerset Trust or by calling the numbers above.

Everett VFW Post 2088 will host bingo nights every Friday from 6pm to 8pm. Doors open at 5.30 p.m. The games are open to the public, but people have to register. The Post has a limited menu and only 115 people are allowed. Reservations can be made at 814-652-2144. The cost is $ 1 per card for regular games and $ 5 per card for blackouts. The club is open on Sundays from 12 noon to around 7 p.m. and closed on Mondays.

Archery at the Bedford County Sportsmen’s Club’s 30-stations, 3D course will be held in rain or shine on June 27th, July 25th, August 22nd and September 26th. Registration takes place on the days of the shootings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the right-hand side of Route 326, by the lake. Youth, hunter and competition stations are included. Young animals under the age of 12 shoot free. Refreshments will be available. The club is 4.2 miles south of Route 30 Narrows Bridge. Parking spaces will be available.

Bedford American Legion Auxiliary Unit 113 will meet on the first Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the post on Business Route 220 in Bedford. Auxiliary members are encouraged to participate and get involved in activities. Applications to join the assistant can be picked up from the post office. To become a member, an individual must be a military man or spouse, son or daughter, or grandson of a veteran. If the family member is a member of an American Legion post, the applicant must provide the member’s post number or a DD214 for the veteran. Men or women can join the unit.

Every first Sunday of the month, the Everett Sportsman’s Club hosts 50 target shootings on sand from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Due to the lack of shotgun shells, sales will be limited. Juniors shoot at half price. Trap boys and girls are needed. For more information, call 814-652-6464 or 814-652-2360.

The classes, offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, include cardio and strength from 9:00 am to 9:30 am, strength and flexibility from 9:30 am to 10:00 am, and an energetic chair from 10:15 am to 10:45 am

Bedford VFW Post 7527 is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 2pm to 8pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 2pm to 9pm. The board meets on the first Wednesday at 7 p.m. and the female assistants on the second Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

The employees of the former Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Breezewood meet on the second Monday at 11 a.m. at Mandy Jo’s Country Corral Restaurant in Everett.

Bedford County Vietnam Veterans Association meets for breakfast at the Landmark Restaurant on the third Thursday at 9 a.m. and on the last Thursday at 5 p.m. for a meeting.

The Family Hospice is hosting free monthly grief counseling group meetings last Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at ACTS Community Church, 169 Bedford Plaza Rd., Bedford. Registration is required by email to [email protected] or by phone at 814-947-7060. The support group is free and open to all members of the community who are mourning the loss of a loved one.
