SEATTLE–(BUSINESS WIRE) – Amazon begins operations today at its new gate at Spokane International Airport in Spokane, Washington. This is the second Amazon Air location in the state. The first flight on Amazon Air’s 737 freighter, operated by Sun Country Airlines, will arrive from Fairbanks International Airport tonight. The service continues daily.
Amazon Air’s newest gateway is managed by an Amazon logistics partner, Trego-Dugan Aviation. The location will create more than 50 new jobs in the region. Individuals interested in finding out more about vacancies at Trego-Dugan Aviation can contact Kelly LeBlanc at [email protected]
“We are excited to expand Amazon Air’s Spokane operations to improve customer package shipping capacity in the region,” said Chris Preston, director of Amazon Air Gateway Operations. “Spokane International Airport, the City of Spokane, Spokane County, S3R3 Solutions and Trego-Dugan Aviation were excellent partners in this process and we look forward to serving our customers in the Spokane region more efficiently together.”
“The addition of Amazon Air to Spokane is incredibly exciting because it represents an improved service to the region and demonstrates Amazon’s trust in our region,” said Al French, Commissioner for Spokane County, who is also chairman of S3R3 Solutions is for the expansion of the air freight facility. “The air gateway will improve service to the people of Spokane and others in the area. I would like to congratulate everyone who helped make this partnership with Amazon a reality as we welcome Amazon Air to Spokane. Spokane Airport Board Chairman Ezra Eckhardt added, “We were excited to welcome Amazon Air to their new gateway at Spokane International Airport. This new location will expand Amazon’s presence not only in Spokane but also in some of the most rural areas in the region. Over the last year in particular, they have focused on delivering the necessary items to customers quickly and efficiently, and we are honored to be part of that effort here in our backyard. ”
This announcement follows the opening of a second Amazon fulfillment center in the Spokane area last month and plans to open a delivery station and sorting center adjacent to the fulfillment center in Airway Heights in 2022. Amazon’s continued investment in the Spokane area will give the company more opportunities to react to future network requirements and also to open up local economic opportunities. Amazon has created more than 80,000 jobs in Washington and invested more than $ 129 billion in the state from 2010 to 2020, including infrastructure and compensation for its employees. As a result of Amazon’s investment in Washington, more than $ 112 billion has been added to the state’s GDP.
“We are very excited to welcome Amazon Air to Spokane and look forward to creating new jobs for Spokanites in the months ahead,” said Vincent Dugan, President of Trego-Dugan Aviation. “We work with companies that share our values and Amazon supports our commitment to recruiting local employees at all of our operations – we look forward to continuing our partnership with the Spokane company.”
