Vancouver residents identified in fatal bridge crash | State and region

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police have identified Cecilia R. Hao, 70, from Vancouver as the second female driver to be killed in a head-on collision on Glenn Jackson Bridge in early March.

The other driver had previously been identified as Morise Messiah Smith, a 21-year-old male, also from Vancouver, the Oregonian / OregonLive reported.

According to authorities, Portland police officers responded to the scene of the accident on the bridge that crosses the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington at around 1:11 a.m. on March 8. They found a burning Toyota RAV4 and a Chrysler 300 against the concrete eastern barrier. Smith drove the Chrysler and Hao the Toyota.

Portland Police Department investigators believe that the Chrysler in the lanes of I-205 heading north, the Toyota heading north, and the cars collided head-on. Both drivers died at the scene of the accident and there were no other people in the vehicles involved.

The investigation into the crash continues.
