Chadwick Boseman wins fourth posthumous award for ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ – Everett Post

(LOS ANGELES) – Chadwick Boseman’s memory was honored during the 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards, with fellow actors and friends paying tribute to the late actor’s memory on Sunday night.

As well as being mentioned by the winners Daniel Kaluuya and Viola Davis In her acceptance speeches, which were recognized as best male actor in a supporting role and best female actress in a leading role, Boseman was also highlighted in the “In Memoriam” segment of the ceremony.

The most emotional moment of the night, however, came when Boseman was recognized as an Actor for Outstanding Achievement by a male actor in a lead role for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

In his place, Boseman’s widow Simone Ledward Boseman garnered the honor and shared some wisdom from the late actor.

“When you see the world unbalanced, be a crusader pushing hard on the seesaw of the spirit,” she said during her emotional acceptance speech. “That’s a quote from Chadwick Boseman.”

She also thanked her late husband Ma Rainey’s co-stars and honored his parents. Leroy and Carolyn Boseman.

This is the Black Panther star’s fourth win since his death in August 2020. He has already received his first Golden Globe, as well as a Gotham Award, a Critics’ Choice Award and a NAACP Award.

The actor is also poised for an Oscar for Best Actor at the 2021 Academy Awards, which will air on April 25th.

Boseman is the second posthumous nominee for the SAG Award Massimo Troisi who starred in the 1996 film The Postman.

In addition, the record for the most SAG Award nominations in a single year is set – with four – for his starring role in Ma Rainey, supporting role in Da 5 Bloods, and serving as an ensemble in both films.

Boseman died of stage four colon cancer. He was 43 years old.
