The Family Chantel: Why Season 3 Is A Major Step Up

90 Day Fiancé has a lot of spin-off shows, but viewers think The Family Chantel’s third season has some of the better content the franchise has over the years.

However, the 90 Day Fiancé franchise is inundated with spin-off shows. The Chantel family Season 3 caught the audience’s attention. Many had mixed reactions to Seasons 1 and 2. Fortunately, TLC seems to have hit the mark with Season 3 of The Family Chantel, and viewers are mesmerized by the authentic and relatable drama that unfolds with Pedro and his family as well as within Everett -Group.

Pedro and Chantel’s relationship drama originally revolved around Chantel’s parents Thomas and Karen Everett being deeply suspicious of the Dominican Republic’s intentions with their Atlanta-based daughter. Many 90 Day Fiancé viewers criticized Karen and the Everett family for being cruel, abusive, and ostensibly xenophobic. Meanwhile, Pedro’s messy family was just as rude to Chantel, showing some potentially racist undertones. Many viewers didn’t like the chaotic drama, which made Pedro’s season three plot a welcome change. Pedro investigates the truth about his estranged father and discovers that many women in his family have had affairs with married men, including his mother Lidia and sister Nicole. Meanwhile, Pedro also discovered that his father had a legitimate family that he supported while he left Pedro and Nicole.

Pedro’s act with his family has a lot more substance than previous seasons of The Family Chantel or any other 90-day fiancé shows. Pedro displays real emotion and shows his difficult journey while learning hard truths about the people he is related to. Nothing about Pedro’s story feels staged or coerced as he really wants to learn about his father and understand why he left Pedro and Nicole but chose to lovingly raise his legitimate children with his wife. Meanwhile, Pedro struggles with overwhelming problems with the women in his family, as they are shockingly unsupported when it comes to learning more about his father. Nicole, Lidia, and Pedro’s grandmother mocked Pedro and laid him down, causing many viewers to sympathize with and support Pedro. You can empathize with Pedro’s heartache, or at least sympathize with him.

Pedro River The Chantel family

Another aspect of The Family Chantel season three that viewers are interested in is a softer side of the Everett family. Karen and her family were convicted of intrusiveness and interference. What is striking, however, is how much the family loves each other. Chantel’s younger sister Winter faced a difficult separation from her long-time boyfriend and fiancé Jah. The Everett family came together for the winter and stood as a united and supportive front. Although both the Everett and Jimeno families are deeply flawed, many viewers have realized that the Everett family has an entity that the Jimeno family lacks. Viewers warmed up to see sweet family relationships, like the loving bond between Winter and her younger brother Riverknight Everett or the sweet friendship between former enemies Pedro and Riverknight.

The positive response to Season 3 of The Family Chantel proves that TLC viewers are looking for authenticity. Newer franchise content has come under fire for showing repetitive storylines that appear staged, stiff, and scripted. While franchise families like the Potthasts have done the most to be messy, The Family Chantel viewers enjoy seeing a more real and raw side of the cast. The drama in Pedro’s family has captivated viewers who genuinely believe in the emotions shown on screen in season 3 of The Family Chantel. Lots of viewers hope the 90 Day Fiancé franchise can continue to feature substantial storylines going forward.
