Spokane city offices are closed on MLK Jr. Day

SPOKANE, Washington – Martin Luther King Jr. Day falls on Monday, January 17, 2022. The federal holiday is celebrated in honor of Dr. King’s birthday and takes place every year on the third Monday in January.

Although all major retail stores are open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, their hours of operation may vary. In addition, services may be interrupted due to the holiday.

Here are the Spokane shops and government offices that will be closed due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

Spokane City Hall

Spokane City Hall and other Spokane City facilities will be closed on Monday January 17th, including the Spokane City Court. The offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 18th.

Spokane City Council has no meeting scheduled for Monday, January 17th.

Spokane Public Library

All Spokane Public Library branches are closed on MLK Jr. Day.

Park on the riverside

All Riverfront Park attractions will be closed on Monday, January 17th.

City of Spokane parking meters

All paid parking meters on the street do not require payment on MLK Jr. Day.

Garbage / recycling collection

Services such as garbage collection and roadside recycling are performed on normal schedules. MLK Jr. Day has no control over this service.

The incinerator’s waste transfer station will open along with the county’s North County and Valley transfer stations.
