Severe weather brings major flash flooding to South this weekend – Everett Post

(NEW YORK) – Heavy storms are expected in the south this weekend, with inundated rain, heavy hail and gusty winds forecast from South Texas to the Panhandle in Florida.

A stationary front will remain standing on South Saturday and over 6 million people will be affected by strong thunderstorms.

A lightning flood clock is in effect from Louisiana to Alabama through Saturday afternoon.

After receiving up to 6 inches of rain from the storms on Friday, another 2-4 inches is possible on Saturday in Mississippi. In parts of Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, higher local rainfall is expected.

Meanwhile, in the northeast behind this spring Nor’easter, the air is much cooler. Temperatures in the 20s to 40s in the northeast on Saturday morning.

High temperatures will be on Saturday in the 50s / 60s with a warmer trend from Sunday to Tuesday.

Look out for another front system that will bring heavy rain, gusty winds and bands of snow to the higher elevations until Wednesday.

Friday’s spring snow brought a foot of snow to the northeast and central Rockies.

Several rounds of heavy snow hit areas from Montana to Kansas on Friday. Conditions will dry up on Saturday and more snow is expected in the central Rockies early next week.
