Seattle Restaurant Week Kicks Off This Sunday
Seattle Restaurant Week (SRW) begins this Sunday, October 24th and continues through November 6th. Over 215 participating local restaurants will create special menus during SRW – $ 20 for lunch and $ 35 / $ 50 for dinner. The participating restaurants are listed on the SRW website, which makes it easier to find BIPOC or women’s own restaurants. The website also lists restaurants that offer free community meals, with the option to donate a meal. The lists include the Eat Local First and EnviroStars awards, which recognize restaurants sourced from Washington State producers and restaurants that are committed to sustainability. Uber Eats delivers SRW menu items with participating restaurants for free. Program manager Andrea Porter said for this year’s SRW: “We are taking a lot more restaurants from Tukwila or Bothell or Kirkland, so a little further outside of Seattle.”
An arena entirely in Seattle: The Climate Pledge Arena opens with a Coldplay concert
The opening ceremony will take place this afternoon at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena, the new home of the Seattle Kraken and Seattle Storm sports teams. Coldplay occurs at 7 p.m. upon entry. The arena’s dining options include local restaurants that are also committed to sustainability, including Din Tai Fung, Ballard Pizza Company, Lil Woody’s, Metropolitan Grill, Elliott’s Oyster House and Just Poke. Native food truck Off The Rez appears in the indigenous dealer market
Do you need a solution for fried bread? Check out Seattle’s first Native Food Truck Off the Rez this Saturday, October 23rd at the Seattle Indian Health Board’s Indigenous Vendors Market. Off the Rez has fried bread, Indian tacos, burgers and chilli. The market this Saturday includes a Halloween festival with a costume parade for children, prizes and crafts. Off the Rez also has a coffee shop in the Burke Museum.
Seattle spoof news account flaunts “steamed meat”
In other (fake) news, the Instagram account for The Needling posted a fake message about a grill restaurant on Capitol Hill serving slowly evaporated meat.
