SPOKANE, Wash. — When police are busy, some local communities call on Spokane volunteers to patrol the streets.

The Sheriff Community Oriented Policing Effort (SCOPE) is Spokane and Spokane County’s primary neighborhood policing program. Volunteers from across the Inland Northwest participate in various SCOPE services to keep local communities safe.

SCOPE actively works with Spokane law enforcement to limit crime and ensure all local criminal concerns are addressed. In addition to the citywide neighborhood watch, SCOPE has an Incident Response Team, Graffiti Task Force, School Patrol and many other programs.

SCOPE offers to help anyone who contacts its stations. They have stations throughout the Inland Northwest, from Liberty to Medical Lake.

SCOPE is always looking for volunteers, so visit their website to see if any of their programs interest you.
