RSL adds Brett Jacobs to coaching staff

Real Salt Lake have added Brett Jacobs, a former assistant coach to Gary Smith, to their coaching staff, particularly while Smith was coaching Colorado Rapids and Pablo Mastroeni.

Jacobs served as an assistant at Colorado from 2008-2011, coached at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington, and later followed Smith to Nashville SC in 2019. He was also a broadcaster for Portland Timbers and head coach of the U-23 side in 2016 and 2017.

From a publication issued by the club, RSL coach Pablo Mastroeni:

“I am incredibly excited to welcome Brett to Real Salt Lake and what we are building here in Utah. I’ve known Brett for many years and as a player I’ve had the opportunity to witness his commitment to individual development alongside the team. He brings an incredible resume both in MLS and abroad. It was important to bring someone who fits the culture of this club and shares the same passion that we all have here at RSL. Please help me welcome Brett to the RSL family.”

Jacob’s:

“I am so excited to come on board with Pablo and his staff. We have a lot of history together and I think it’s a very special time in Salt Lake. In my opinion, RSL is and has been one of the flag bearers in MLS. The infrastructures here are world class and the goal now is to build on last season’s success and build a ruthless winning culture. I will give everything for the players, for the club and for the city.”
