I just spoke to someone close to Russell Wilson’s situation and they told me they don’t believe he is leaving SEA. Ok, while it’s definitely fun to be super hyped for a Wilson trade with the bears, let’s be real for a second. The Seahawks have been reported to be answering calls from other teams regarding a possible Wilson trade. ESPN’s Dianna Russini wouldn’t go so far as to say Seattle Wilson is “shopping in,” but they didn’t close the door either. The big caveat with each of these reports, however, is that they all say the Seahawks’ priority is to fix the relationship with their angry QB.

Regarding that relationship, all of this hysteria started with various reports that Wilson was dissatisfied with his role in Seattle. He not only wants to throw the ball more, he also wants a greater say in the offensive. But he doesn’t think his voice was heard by head coach Pete Carroll and the brass of the Seahawks. These reports also have one major caveat. Almost all of them say that despite these tough feelings, Wilson doesn’t have to officially apply for a trade yet.

Where is that for us? Frankly, in a similar situation to any round of trade rumors. Do you remember the smoke that surrounds a Bears-Eagles deal with Carson Wentz? After weeks of speculation, he ended up in Indianapolis. On the flip side, deals like the Matthew Stafford-Jared Goff swap can pop up out of nowhere.

Of course, a bear trade is still possible for Wilson. We heard Ryan Pace made trading with him his quarterback priority. But it’s important to remember that there’s a good chance Wilson will stay in Seattle as well.
