Port of Everett economic director to join Economic Alliance

EVERETT – Terrie Battuello, who has been responsible for real estate and economic development at Port of Everett since 2013, will step down and become vice president of economic development for the Economic Alliance Snohomish County.

Battuello will join the Economic Alliance on June 1st.

Battuello’s knowledge of the regional economy and established network makes her an ideal candidate for the role that represents a new position, the economic alliance said in a statement.

The Snohomish County non-profit business alliance serves as a development organization and state chamber of commerce. The public-private partnership aims to fuel employment and economic growth by bringing the business community, executives and work groups to the table.

The key to their new role will be to help the region recover from the economic slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. That includes recruiting new businesses in the region, Battuello said.

“I am so proud of the work we have done in Everett Harbor, which shows in all of its growth and prosperity,” said Battuello. “With all of our landowners and a long climb out of the impending pandemic, I felt I could best serve the port and all of Snohomish County in a broader role in economic development.”

Her experience includes managing 3,300 acres of port properties and around 45 commercial leases.

Battuello played a key role in negotiating land acquisitions and sales for the port, including the redevelopment of the Riverside Business Park, an 85-acre industrial development with 700 jobs, and the Waterfront Place Central, a 1.5-million-square-foot public-private space Development that combines retail, residential and office space by the water.

For the past three years, Battuello has also served as the port city liaison to the Cascade Industrial Center, a 4,000 acre industrial estate that spans parts of Marysville and Arlington.

“We are excited to add Terrie to the Economic Alliance team,” said Garry Clark, the group’s new president and CEO. Clark took over the helm in February.

“Our primary focus is on providing exemplary support to our existing businesses as we work closely with our regional and regional partners to attract new businesses and advance the future of Snohomish County,” said Clark. “Terrie brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, coupled with a clear understanding of regional cooperation.”

Lisa Lefeber, CEO of Port of Everett, said Battuello was hired eight years ago to see “many exciting developments for the port, ranging from mixed-use and light industrial developments to maritime expansion”.

“There was no better person for the job,” said Lefeber. “Terrie was a huge asset to our team and the entire region. While we’re sad that she left, as a strong partner in the Economic Alliance, we know that her skills and recruiting efforts will allow us to continue growing and benefit the entire region. ”

Battuello holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree in business, statistics and accounting from the City University of Bellevue.

Prior to joining the port, Battuello worked on community rehabilitation efforts in Bremerton and the town of Bothell.
