HOUGHTON – Peter James Manderfield, 62, of Houghton, passed away on Monday, November 8th, 2021 at the UP Health System – Marquette surrounded by his family.

Peter was born on January 23, 1959 in Hancock to the late Matthias and Florence (Kratt) Manderfield. After graduating from high school, he worked with his brothers in the family business Manderfield, Inc. for about 20 years. In 2000, he began working as an electrician and plumber in the building services department at Michigan Tech University. He has always enjoyed his job.

Peter and his wife Leslie Seiler were married on Valentine’s Day in 1986.

Peter was a member of the Saint Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton, the Knights of Columbus, was actively involved in the Lion’s Club and was involved in the football programs of Houghton Middle School and High School. Pete also carried on the family chicken barbecue legacy by grilling chicken for the Lion’s Club, St. Ignatius Church, the high school football team, and many family gatherings.

In addition to his parents, a brother Victor and sister Joan also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife Leslie; four children, Ellen (Ryan) Jones from Vancouver, Washington, Audrey Manderfield from Nashville, Tennessee, Nathan Manderfield from Portland, Oregon, and Dwight Manderfield from Houghton; his only grandson, Nolan Jones; Brothers Matt Manderfield, James Manderfield, Dave (Kathy) Manderfield, and Mike (Cynthia) Manderfiled, all of Houghton; his sisters Judy (Fred) `en of Oxford, Michigan, Paula Manderfield (David Gilstrap) of East Lansing, Rosemary Manderfield, Cecilia (Gary) Bakkila, and Susan (Mike) Johnson of Houghton; and from numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peter loved the simpler things in life, like having coffee with his brothers on the patio, walking his wife with the family dog ​​Penny, making campfires with the neighbors, and chatting about the Chicago Blackhawks and Green Bay Packers and chat about them.

A Christian funeral will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Catholic Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola in Houghton, with Pastor John Martignon officiating. The spring funeral will take place on the family property at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. Friends can call the church from 9:30 am to 10:45 am before the service.

Peter was an avid sports fan and would love to see his friends and family dressed as their favorite sports team.
