Onboard Systems delivers the first H125 swing loading hook systems for the factory installation at Airbus Helicopters | state

VANCOUVER, wash., 23 August 2021 / PRNewswire / – Onboard Systems International, LLC, a leading provider of innovative helicopter cargo hook equipment, today announced the delivery of the first shipment of its TALON® LC hydraulic swing hook system for factory installation on the Airbus H125 Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Marignane, France. The new swing system was developed on behalf of Airbus Helicopters and includes the hydraulic load hook from Onboard, the cardan frame technology and the new cockpit display C-40 for the integrated onboard weighing system.

The new onboard equipment is available as a factory installed option through Airbus Helicopters and has been designed to be compatible with the Crash Resistant Fuel System (CRFS) that is part of the current H125 base configuration of aircraft. In addition, the C-40 indicator is connected to the vehicle and engine multifunction display (VEMD) so that the operator can take full advantage of the performance increases with external and internal loads, including a higher NR law for external load processes.

“We have been delighted to work with Airbus to provide this onboard swing cargo hook system for factory installation on the H125 that has been requested by operators for several years,” said Mike Fox, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Onboard Systems. “Onboard is committed to listening to our customers and continuously improving our products with features that improve safety, maintainability and usability. This new hook swing system improves the external load capacities of the H125 and provides Airbus customers with immediate value.”

The hydraulic load hook TALON LC from Onboard offers a hydraulically activated backup quick-release fastener subsystem made of braided stainless steel for maximum durability. The hydraulic cables can be routed with the electrical control cables for a cleaner installation that prevents the lines from snagging during use. To further protect the cables, hooks and body, the cargo hook system also has an integrated bumper and travel stops. The gimbal swing frame is designed so that each half of the swing can move independently to accommodate the individual movement of the four attachment ropes, reducing the stress on both the airframe and the swing frame when transporting a load. The integrated onboard weighing system shows pilots the exact weight of each load they are carrying with the onboard C-40 indicator, which provides both analog and digital readings of the weight of the load.
