TURNERS FALLS, Massachusetts – Franklin Tech’s softball team took advantage of some mid-inning mistakes to obliterate an early lead on Mount Everett on their way to a 6-1 win in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 quarterfinals on Monday.

Tonilynn Smith went 2 for 3 on the record, and Emma Goewey and Makenzie Ullrich each had a hit for the Eagles seeded at 10 (6-9).

“I can’t say enough about what playing this year meant for these girls, and it’s been a tough day for our two seniors, Hailey Liebenow and Makenzie Ullrich,” said Mount Everett coach Joshua King. “I’m proud of what all of these girls have achieved this season and hopefully the girls who return next year will keep working and improving in the off-season.”
