Les Schwab Invitational sees last-minute changes

While many spent Christmas Day opening gifts and celebrating with family, the Les Schwab Invitational released an updated series that included several changes less than 24 hours before the tournament was scheduled to start.

On Saturday afternoon, the Les Schwab Invitational released an updated roster that included four new teams in the tournament: Canby, David Douglas, Evergreen and Sherwood. Canby, David Douglas and Sherwood are all local programs, and Evergreen is from Vancouver, Washington, for the tournament.

These teams entered the tournament to replace local teams Grant and West Linn, as well as Gonzaga College High School and Isidore Newman out of state.

While the loss of Gonzaga and Isidore Newman means players like Arch Manning (one of the best high school football prospects in the country) and Quinn Clark (who holds multiple Division I offers) won’t be in the tournament, the tournament remains Link Academy in the swimming pool. The Lions have a full line-up of players with Division I offers including Jordan Walsh (under contract with Arkansas), Julian Phillips (under contract with LSU), Tarris Reed Jr. (under contract with Michigan), Felix Okpara (under contract with Ohio State) and Omaha Biliew (offers from Kansas, Kentucky, Memphis and Michigan).

The Les Schwab Invitational 2021 is the first time since 2019 that the tournament will be held. It will take place at Liberty High School starting Sunday evening. The finale is scheduled for December 30th.
