Hitting the slopes: Spokane Nordic Cup

The Sandpoint Nordic Team raced in the Mt Spokane Nordic Cup this past weekend. Racers registered for the 2-day race events in either the National Ranking List (NRL) or the Community Event category.

1.2K Skate qualifier, Feb 19 – Isabella Waters raced up an age group in the U16 female NRL category.

She finished the qualifier race in the seventh with a time of 3:51.95.

She finished the heat in sixth place.

Evan Brubaker raced in the U16 male Community Event category.

He finished the qualifier race in third with a time of 5:10.36.

He finished the heats in third place.

Callahan Watlers raced in the U16 male NRL category; he finished the qualifier race in first place with a time of 3:03.0.

He finished the heats in second place just behind his cousin, Quinten Koch, who races for Plain Valley Nordic.

Fletcher Barrett also raced in the U16 male NRL category.

He finished the qualifier race in tenth place with a time of 3:24.61.

He finished the heat in the eleventh place.

5K Classic Race, Feb 20 – Isabella Waters again raced up an age group in the NRL category.

She finished fifth with a time of 20:04.23.

Brubaker competed in the Community Event Category and finished third with a time of 26:08.3.

Callahan Waters raced in the NRL category where he finished sixth with a time of 17:15.28.

Barrett raced in the NRL category and finished thirteenth with a time of 19:10.36.

The Race Team was very grateful for the many hours that Jared France spent testing and preparing race skis with kick wax for Sunday’s races.
