Fort Vancouver regional libraries have reopened for limited in-branch service

VANCOUVER. – Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries looks forward to seeing you again.

Following Washington State’s Roadmap to Recovery plan and state security protocols, the FVRLibraries locations in Clark, Skamania, Klickitat and Cowlitz Counties began “soft opening” customers last week. This was to practice new security protocols and to ensure that staff are trained and ready for the public to return to library buildings. Now the Library District is pleased to announce that they have officially reopened their libraries with limited services.

Users can browse the library’s collection, use computers and printers / scanners, pick up cargo holds, and get assistance from staff. Visits are limited to 30 minutes or less and begin at the beginning of every hour, giving library staff time to clean every hour. According to state guidelines, access to buildings is restricted and all guests over the age of five must wear a mask or face covering.

The library district encourages visitors to schedule a visit through their website www.fvrl.org. However, walk-in visitors are served depending on capacity and availability. Roadside cargo hold pickups and all online services – including virtual programs – will also continue.

“We are very excited to see you back in the library,” said Amelia Shelley, General Manager of FVRLibraries. “After a year of serving our communities through roadside collection, books in the mail and virtual, it’s great to open our doors and see customers in person.”

In accordance with the security guidelines, users may notice some changes to their library. Plexiglass barriers and other security enhancements have been added, and some services such as personal programs, meeting rooms, and children’s play areas are still unavailable. The library district encourages all visitors to follow instructions and signage from staff at their locations.
