Former Everett stars Lewis Cine, Isaiah Likely are NFL prospects

Two close friends who starred on the football field for Everett High School in Massachusetts are likely to hear their names called in next month’s NFL draft. Lewis Cine and Isaiah Likely helped the Everett Crimson Tide win back-to-back Division 1 state championships in 2016 and 2017 and both went on to play for Division I FBS college programs.Cine is one of the best defensive back prospects in the country and recently helped the University of Georgia win a national championship.Likely, meanwhile, established himself as one of the best tight end prospects in the nation while starring at Coastal Carolina University.”As a high schooler, you kind of talk about not in a joking manner but as like a dream aspect,” Likely said. “And then the more and more you play, the more and more you realize that your dreams, l0w-key, are coming into reality.””You talk about it, but the fact it’s a reality and everything is transpiring and the way it’s going, it feels so real,” Cine said. “But you try to soak it in and enjoy it.”Both Cine and Likely impressed at the recent NFL Combine, and they each believe that they improved their draft stock with their performances.”I always root for my guy,” Likely said. “I mean, whenever Lewis is playing a game I text Lewis throughout the game and let him know I’m always watching.””Happening to play football in Everett and happening to be surrounded with the coaching and the type of environment we were in , it made us tough,” Cine said. While their dreams of being drafted into the NFL are close to fruition, both are dreaming of another scenario: getting selected by the same NFL team and becoming teammates once again.”If that were to happen , that team would be getting two dogs; two elite players on their team and just amazing people,” Cine said.”Two players that definitely blend well, two players that definitely feed off one another and two players that love to win,” Likely said.The 2022 NFL draft will be held from April 28-30 at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.
