SPOKANE, Wash. – Firefighters worked late Sunday evening to protect nearby homes from a bushfire that burns near the Spokane River.

The fire between North Lindeke and West Summit Blvd. was called shortly before 5 p.m. on Sunday evening. Two hand crews, two helicopters and seven Spokane units fought the fire.
