Anniversary: Jim and Marion Harrison | Milestones

Jim and Marion Harrison of Bend celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a “written reception” in June. Instead of a party, the couple’s children put together a memory book with photos and stories from friends and family.

The couple were married on June 12, 1971 in Santa Monica, California, where a bridesmaid and best man met and eventually married. The Harrison’s have two children, Laurel Fooks (and Paul) of Springfield and Crista Hagan (and David) of Vancouver, Washington; six grandchildren.

Mr. Harrison was a tape, computer programming, math, and aeronautics teacher at Sisters High School from 1992 until his retirement in 2006. Owning a Ford Model A and a member of the local club, he enjoys square dancing (which he loves to dance from, is also a member of the club and the Grange Hall Council) and is an avid reader.

Ms. Harrison was a high school economics teacher and middle school reading specialist in the Sisters School District before retiring in 2006 to start the Schoolhouse Bed and Breakfast. She also enjoys square dancing, hanging out with her daughters and grandchildren, and is a quilter who makes blankets and other handmade gifts for charities like the Ronald McDonald House. She is a cancer survivor and has been in remission for 20 years.

The Snowbirds couple in Mesa, Arizona have lived in Central Oregon for 29 years.
