Delano Lynwood Gilbertson, 86, of Clyde, died peacefully on Thursday May 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 9, 1934 in Dodgeville to Henry and Elgie (Ladd) Gilbertson. Delano attended Walty School in Clyde and graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1951. While in high school, he earned the Star Farmer Degree in the state of Wisconsin and the National Star Farmer Degree in Kansas City. He received these awards for his work with his Chester White Hogs and Herford cattle herd. After graduating from high school, Delano attended the UW-Madison Farming Short Course and then served in the National Guard Reserves. On August 9, 1959, he was married to Patricia Bach in the First Lutheran Church. Delano was the third generation on the family farm and was proud to have his son and grandson run the family farm. He loved to hunt, watch his elk, ride his Harley, ride on Sundays, and hang out with his family.

Delano is survived by his 61 year old wife, Patricia von Clyde;
Daughter: Louann Gilbertson of Clyde;
Son: David (Gwen) Gilbertson of Clyde;
Grandchildren: Erik, Alex, Rebecca Gilbertson of Clyde;
Great-grandchildren: Joshua Gilbertson of Clyde;
Sister-in-Law: Mary Smith of Vancouver, Washington;
Special cousins: Erik (Lynn) Forshaug from Mount Horeb,
Rolf (Leigh) Forshaug from Mount Horeb;
Special friends: Ray and Bobbi Miller from Texas;
Lots of nieces, nephews, cousins ​​and friends.

Delano was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Elgie, brothers and sisters-in-law: Nordeen (Oral) Gilbertson and Peter (Jeane) Bach.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. The family suggests that monuments in Delano’s name be sent to the First Lutheran Church in Lone Rock. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service assists the family with their arrangements.
