2 moose at large close off I-90 in Spokane County – KIRO 7 News Seattle

A pair of moose at large made a major backup on I-90 in Spokane County Friday morning.

Traffic officials said crews would have to close both directions near the Appleway Avenue exit near Liberty Lake after reports were made of two moose approaching the freeway.

The traffic safety was about two miles long.

The soldiers performed a rolling slowdown to move the moose away from I-90.

One of WSDOT’s Twitter accounts said the moose once hid in bushes.

Unfortunately, the moose at large is causing significant backups for I-90. Traffic will stop on I-90 west of the Appelway interchange and traffic in both directions will be secured approximately 2 miles on either side. https://t.co/fbYXeDk8Cv

At around 8:45 a.m., WSDOT reopened I-90 in both directions.

With several people taking to the streets on Memorial Day weekend, transportation officials ask drivers to be patient and anticipate delays.
