10 places to get your burger fix in the Seattle area

What makes a good burger? Is it patty, cucumber, lettuce, tomato, onion, or some kind of secret sauce? Is that all together ?! I’m not sure, but my mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we’re lucky enough to be surrounded by some damn good restaurants that serve really damn good burgers. If you’re looking for a solution or want to try something new, here are 10 places to get a burger in the Seattle area (oh, and did I mention it’s National Burger on May 28th Day is? This is kind of important):

Dick’s drive-in
Locations in Wallingford, Capitol Hill, Holman Road, Lake City and Queen Anne

OK … I lied. I’m technically going to add 11 burger places to this list as it would be criminal not to put Dick’s on a burger list in the Seattle area. This legendary Seattle-based burger chain has served burgers since 1954 and continues to this day. I mean, if you’ve ever had a deluxe, you know what I’m talking about.

Burgermaster
Locations in Aurora, Bellevue, Mill Creek, Mount Vernon and the University

Fill good dishes here like burger master, ground beef, American cheese, tomato, lettuce and enjoy a toasted bun. The menu has a wide variety of other burgers, sandwiches, shakes, and fries.

King Charley’s Drive-In
1301 30th St. SE, Snohomish, WA

The hotel is located on Highway 9 in Snohomish and cannot be missed. King Charley’s with its bright gold and purple paint. The passage has been in the family for almost 50 years.

Loretta’s Northwestern

In 2017, Thrillist’s National Burger Critic Kevin Alexander named Loretta’s Northwesterner tavern burger his fourth favorite burger on his list of America’s 100 Best Burgers!

Ray’s drive-in

Ray’s drive-in was first opened by Ray Campbell in 1962. Today the place is run by his grandson Jeff Doleshel. Even after all these years they still offer the best fish and chips, burgers, fries, onion rings and shakes (made with real ice cream) in town.

Everything here, from the sign with the orange root beer barrel in front of the restaurant, is huge. Even the low cheeseburger is bigger than most fast food chains’ big burgers. And the ice shakes? A mountain of goodness.

Sam’s tavern

Ahh, Sam’s Tavern, home to juicy burgers, beer, and the best damn Bloody Mary you’ve ever seen.

Otter Bar & Burger
