West Seattle Blog… | WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Noontime catalytic-converter theft; abandoned bicycle

Two reader reports in West Seattle Crime Watch:

CATALYTIC CONVERTER STOLEN IN THE STREET: Jeff saw it happen:

I witnessed a catalyst theft at Alki this afternoon.

At around noon, I was jogging down the hill on California Way SW that led to Harbor Ave SW (near Marination Ma Kai) when I saw a man under a parked silver Toyota Prius. Another man was standing next to the car. They were both white, in their late twenties or early thirties, and wore backward-facing baseball caps and vests. A woman in a parked silver Nissan Pathfinder with no rear or front panels looked back at the two men from the driver’s seat. After a few seconds they recovered the Prius’s catalytic converter and ran towards the parked SUV, and then all three of them drove away. I took a picture of the Nissan and attached it.

Hopefully I understood the make / model of the getaway car correctly and would appreciate input from anyone who can better identify cars based on suboptimal images. I filed a police report and am waiting for a case number.

Jeff also left a message for the owner of the Prius and connected with them.

ABANDONED BIKE: Mason saw this abandoned bike both days this weekend:

At Holgate & 44th a bike was left on the side of the road … (Sunday) was it still there, maybe someone stole it and then left it? Are there any reports of a missing old blue racing bike?
