West Seattle Blog… | ‘Reconnecting Our Community’: That’s what Senior Center of West Seattle is doing, with your help

Along with the membership campaign mentioned two weeks ago, the West Seattle Senior Citizens Center could use some help “Reconnecting Our Community” – here is the announcement:

After a year of “stay at home” orders, our members experience real challenges with mental health, isolation and loneliness. As we near the end of this pandemic, we know that reconnecting our community can best help the seniors of West Seattle overcome these challenges.

We know this is true because we hear it from the seniors in our Aging Well group speaking out about the real toll the pandemic has had on their mental health and how relieved they are of a group of sympathetic friends of their vulnerability to express . We see it in our Quilters Group, a gathering of artists that, after a year of separation, feels more like a socially distant family get-together. We feel it when we see veterans who drink coffee in person again and our film fans come together to watch films together in the senior citizen center.

As the West Seattle Senior Citizens Center continues to add personal programs to meet a strong desire for community, we call on our neighbors to support the Reconnecting Our Community campaign.

The Senior Center of West Seattle plans to raise $ 25,000 through a crowdfunding campaign by July 31.
