Washington man identified in fatal accident on Highway 1

A Washington man was identified Monday as the motorcyclist who died in a weekend accident on Highway 1.

Donald Wiens, 63, died on Sunday afternoon in an area near Fort Ross, the Sonoma County sheriff’s office announced.

He lives in Battle Ground, a community near Vancouver, Washington, north of the Oregon border.

Vienna was about a mile north of Fort Ross Road when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a guardrail at around 3 p.m. on Sunday, according to the CHP.

According to the investigators, he was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
