Victim identified in homicide near Olympia – KIRO 7 News Seattle

OLYMPIA, Washington. – The body of a man found in a ditch by a woman jogging near Olympia has been identified and the cause of his death is being investigated as murder, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

The MPs confirmed that it was the body of 37-year-old Jose Luis Alejo Tamayo von Chehalis.

The sheriff’s detectives responded to the 2500 block of 12th Avenue Northeast around 8:30 a.m. for a death investigation.

When MPs arrived, they found the man in a ditch by the roadside and confirmed that he had died from a gunshot wound.

Cameron Simper from the sheriff’s office initially called the death “suspicious”.

Investigators are working to find out who killed Tamayo.
