Vandals target Everett restaurant with offensive name

EVERETT, Washington. – Vandals have targeted a new company in Everett that this week revealed an offensive name.

The restaurant is called “Soup Nazi Kitchen”. The name refers to a famous “Seinfeld” episode from 1995. Overnight KING took 5 recordings of several broken windows in the restaurant.

Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin said on a Facebook post that she was aware of the mark but the city of Everett could not take action:

“I was made aware of a new business in Everett, the name of which is important. The city of Everett is a safe city and strives to include and welcome all residents and visitors. Unfortunately, recent rulings from the US Supreme Court have the . ” The city’s authority to regulate the wording of signs largely prohibits the city from banning signs based on the hateful or offensive wording of that sign. However, we strongly encourage and prefer that our companies not use hateful, culturally insensitive, derogatory or offensive language like images in their signage or business materials. We will continue to look into this and hope to work with our business community to ensure that all of our residents feel safe. “
