Thousands without electricity as the storm sweeps across the northwest of the country

SPOKANE, Washington. – Thousands of people were without power on Sunday evening when a storm hit east Washington.

Avista

According to Avista Utilities, at least 9,000 customers were without power. Outages have been reported across the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene region, but also to Grangeville in the south and Colville in the north.

Inland power

Almost 2,700 Inland Power customers were without service. Most of the failures were reported in northern Spokane County.

Kootenai Electric

More than 2,820 Kootenai Electric customers were in the dark. The majority of those affected were in the Rathdrum area to the southern end of Lake Pend Oreille.
