Used car prices continue to rise in Seattle as the nationwide shortage of microchips affects the market.
iSeeCars.com, an automotive research company, examined over 1.9 million used car sales in November. The study found that used car prices in Seattle were up 26.1%, or $ 6,849, compared to last year due to the microchip shortage. Nationwide, used car prices rose 27.9%, or $ 6,939, year over year.
“Used car prices have fallen slightly since their peak in June, but they are on the rise again.
The Nissan LEAF was the vehicle with the most dramatic price increases, both in Seattle and nationally. Brauer attributes the popularity of the LEAF to the 2018 model’s greater EV range and overall improved vehicle performance.
