“The outcry shouldn’t just be a Jewish outcry”: Chabad from Spokane offers a course to combat anti-Semitism

SPOKANE, Washington – Chabad of Spokane is a safe and welcome place for everyone.

They want to carry this message into the community in order to outsmart anti-Semitism and create a more just and just society for all.

“Anti-Semitism is increasing. Unfortunately, it is increasing within this community and worldwide, ”said Rabbi Yisroel Hahn. “It has reached a height we haven’t seen in a long time.”

That is why Rabbi Hahn holds a course on anti-Semitism. Its purpose is to teach people to be proud of their Jewish heritage and to see that the injustice against Jews is an injustice for all.

“Do you want me to put you down because you’re blonde, or because you’re tall or short, or because you’re American? Are you white, black, hispanic? That is never acceptable, ”said Rabbi Hahn.

A woman named Miriam, who attended the anti-Semitism class on Sunday, saw hatred firsthand. Her parents survived the Holocaust and she became a victim of anti-Semitism herself.

It’s kind of hate that shocked her, still exists.

“I just don’t see how it should happen,” she said.

That is why Miriam attended the course: to defend herself with ways, not only for Jews, but for everyone.

“I think it’s a bigger issue than just anti-Semitism because it can be against any belief or person,” she said.

“The outcry shouldn’t just be a Jewish outcry. It should be everyone, ”said Rabbi Hahn. “When we get rid of it, we really address hate in general.”
