They invite community members to team up to rock around the track with Ravalli County’s Relay for Life’s Sock Hop fundraiser.

Wherry said she has been involved in the Relay for Life efforts since 2002.

“You get the satisfaction of honoring your family and friends who have had cancer,” said Wherry. “It’s a way to show your gratitude for who went through this, and it’s just great fun to be on a team.”

Dianne Keely said she was on a Relay for Life team because she had cancer twice.

“I lived in Vancouver, Washington, and did the season there,” she said. “I moved here and Donna made me do it. I’ve been in the relay for probably 15 years. “

Chris Voegtly said she was on a team because both of her parents died of cancer.

“My mom died and it was a very aggressive, nasty cancer and she went quick with a lot of work but nothing worked for her,” she said. “I thought now is the time to remember her and hope for a cure and hope no one else has to go through that.”
