SUV hydroplanes on I-5 in Everett, gets hit by minivan

Three people in the minivan were injured Sunday morning and taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett.

EVERETT — Three people were injured Sunday morning after a driver in an SUV reportedly hydroplaned while northbound on Interstate 5.

The SUV driver, a Marysville woman, was driving north on the highway around 4 am when the vehicle was hydroplaned, lost control, hit a barrier and stopped in another lane, according to the Washington State Patrol. A minivan with three people in it hit the SUV.

The minivan’s driver and two passengers, all adults from Mount Vernon, were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. At least one passenger wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, according to the state patrol.

The SUV driver wasn’t injured, according to the state patrol.

It was unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved, but the state patrol believed speed and the weather were factors.
