Superstar Racing Experience is adding three “wrestlers” to the driver line-up for series scheduled to start on CBS this summer

This summer, a number of racing greats will compete against each other in the Superstar Racing Experience series of six races. And just weeks before SRX’s debut, which will air on CBS on Saturday June 12, three notable races are taking part in the action in limited capacity.

On Wednesday, SRX announced the addition of three “wrestlers” to their drivers: former NASCAR star Greg Biffle, former F1 driver and multidisciplinary racer Scott Speed, and great dirt racing driver Scott Bloomquist. All three will race select races on the SRX calendar: Biffle will race Stafford Speedway and Slinger Speedway, Speed will race Eldora Speedway and Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, and Bloomquist will race Knoxville Raceway.

Of the three ring tones, Biffle is the most successful nationally: Biffle, who hails from Vancouver, Washington, broke into NASCAR in the late 1990s and won championships in the then NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (2000) and the NASCAR Busch Series (2002)) . Biffle switched full-time to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2003 and had an outstanding career in which he scored 19 career wins and in 2005 the best second place in points. Biffle retired from the full-time racing season in late 2016 but has raced two truck races with one win at Texas Motor Speedway since 2019.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Biffle. “This is where we all grew up and we all started racing. Those local circuits on Friday and Saturday evenings were ridden either on dirt or on ovals on the sidewalk. I think it’s that grassroots race again for all of us and I’m really excited thereon. “”

Scott Speed’s racing background makes him one of the most versatile riders in the SRX arena. The driver from Manteca, California, drove two seasons in Formula 1 for Toro Rosso in 2006 and 2007, making him the first American driver in Formula 1 since Michael Andretti in the early 1990s. After racing in F1, Speed switched to production cars, drove in NASCAR and ARCA competitions from 2008 to 2013 and won a Truck Series race in Dover. Speed switched to rallycross competition at the end of his NASCAR days and won the Americas Rallycross Championship in 2018.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into a warehouse car,” said Speed. “Obviously the first big transition I had in my career was going from a Formula 1 car to a production car, which was a huge delta and took a lot of time to learn and get used to. And that experience became real. ” I will try new things.

“: … I’m really looking forward to going back in time a bit and getting back into a production car. … I love the fact that nobody has driven these cars and nobody really has any experience, so it is kind of an open book to everyone and I look forward to getting out there and showing everyone a great time. “

Scott Bloomquist is one of the most successful late-model dirt model racers in history, and his exploits are legendary in the grassroots ranks. Bloomquist has won multiple championships at the national level, including a World of Outlaws title in 2004 and three Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series titles in 2009, 2010 and 2016. Bloomquist has been a dirt racer since 1980 and has more than 600 victories in his historic career.

“When you look at the cars and look at some footage, it looks like it’s going to be exciting,” said Bloomquist. “The power to traction ratio looks really good, it looks like it needs a good foot. We’ll plan to do as we obviously can.”
