Steve Willits – a face and voice known to those who play, train, or watch high school sporting events in the Edmonds School District – will join the broadcast team for the Everett AquaSox this season.

Willits will be broadcast play-by-play for the remaining 54 street games for the minor league baseball team at Avista Stadium beginning May 18, when the Spokane Indians host the AquaSox. The leading broadcaster Pat Dillon will broadcast all 60 home games on AquaSox. All games can be heard throughout the Puget Sound area on the flagship stations AM 1380 and FM 95.3, KRKO.

Willits will continue his role as the presenter at AquaSox during all home games.

Willits is a graduate of Mountlake Terrace High School and a lifelong resident of Snohomish County. He has extensive broadcasting experience. Since September 2014 he has co-hosted Prep Sports Weekly, which is broadcast every Monday on KRKO. Since 2015 he has been a side reporter for basketball and soccer games at KRKO and the presenter of his own podcast.

Willits has also provided play-by-play commentary for baseball and many other sports on five sports networks including Sound Live Sports Network, which covers Edmonds School District Sports, and STSPN.com, which covers high school and college sports in the counties Snohomish and King covers. He also hosted a video show, This Week In College Sports, introducing college athletes and coaches, that aired on the My Neighborhood News Network’s YouTube channel for three years.

“The Everett Aqua Sox and KRKO have both become an integral part of my life. The chance to represent both organizations in this capacity in a community that meant so much to me is a tremendous thrill, ”said Willits. “The fact that I’ll only be doing play-by-play for street games is the ideal situation for me.”

Willits will continue his role as the presenter at AquaSox during all home games.

“With the longer schedule in 2021, I thought the time was right to look for a second channel,” said Pat Dillon, AquaSox’s chief broadcaster. “The best thing about the process is that we didn’t have to look very far. Steve is a pro and I know our fans will enjoy him on the radio. “

The AquaSox will return to Funko Field on Wednesday May 12th at 7:05 pm for their second game in the series against the Tri-City Dust Devils.
