Stanley Balloun Obituary (1961 – 2022) – Everett, WA

Stan passed away peacefully after his multi-year battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Stan was born to Myron and Shirley Balloun in Salem Oregon where he grew up with five older sisters, Debbie, Marilou, Rebecca (Becky), Renee and Denise. Even at a young age Stan was an entrepreneur; mowing lawns for neighbors and carrying a paper route. He later worked in the family’s restaurant in Seattle as a cook. He also worked in the kitchen at the Tropicana Restaurant in downtown Seattle where his proximity to the King Dome enabled him to watch many Mariner games; sitting behind home plate and getting to know the players.
Upon graduating from Edmonds High School, Stan married Beverly Johnson and joined the Air Force. Stan served 8 years in the Air Force and was stationed in California, England, Okinawa, and Tacoma. Stan and Beverly had two sons, Allen, and Steven, before divorcing. Following his Air Force career, he went to work for Boeing.
Stan later moved with Boeing to the East Coast where he married Susan Gillespie. Stan and Susan had one son, Connor, and later divorced. After Boeing, Stan worked as a contractor for Lockheed Martin in Spain, and then joined Proctor & Gamble. During his long career in P&G’s purchasing group Stan was able to continue his world travels, and Costa Rica was a frequent destination. During his career Stan earned a BBA in Marketing from Chaminade University of Honolulu, and an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Misericordia. Stan what to avid Dr. Seuss fan, and it was a dream of his to one day teach a college class with lessons based on Dr. Seuss’ art and writings.
Stan loved his family, Seattle sports, barbecuing, travelling, and gardening. Although Stan lived on the East Coast for many years, he never seemed to acclimate to the time difference. Calls with him at 9:00PM Pacific time (Midnight Eastern time), would often find him barbecuing his dinner, and watching the Mariners. Stan’s passion for the team led him to take his boys to different ball fields around the country, watching Mariners games and staying in the team’s hotel so the boys could meet some of their favorite players.
Stan is survived by his three sons, Allen (Nicole) Balloun, Steven (Tiffaney) Balloun and Connor (Hollianne) Balloun, and his siblings, Debbie (Bill) Hamann, Marilou Balloun, Renee Engelson, Denise Balloun, Deb (Monique) Henry , and his brother-in-law Scott Finney. Stan was blessed with eight grandchildren: Elliott, Isabella (Bella), Madeline (Maddie), Bentley, Chloe, Elijah, Adeline, and Declan, as well as many Nieces and Nephews.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents Myron and Shirley Balloun, and his sister Becky Finney. Stan will be loved forever and missed by all.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Diane Mundy who was a support and a good friend during Stan’s illness. April 5, 1961 – April 14, 2022
