Spokane Valley Fire Roundup: Drivers are encouraged to slow down the seasons and weather

The Spokane Valley Fire Department has been busy lately, although the number of reported fires has decreased.

The number of car accidents has increased, and the department is urging drivers to slow down and watch out for the changing seasons and weather.

Calls from September 13th to 19th

13.september: At 12:18 p.m., an accident involving a vehicle and two pedestrians was reported in the Adams Road and Wellesley Avenue area. At 5:23 p.m., a small, smoldering grass fire was reported in Block 9100 on East Appleway Avenue. OnStar notified 911 of an accident in Block 3400 on North Sargent Road at 7:01 p.m. The driver refused to be treated by doctors.

September 14th: One caller reported that at 6:06 a.m. in Block 1500 on North Lily Road, someone set a windshield on fire. The fire quickly went out and incendiary devices were found at the scene.

September 15th: A person on a Lime scooter collided with a vehicle on Pines Road and Montgomery Avenue at 9:06 p.m. The scooter driver was injured.

16th September: A bushfire was reported in the 3000 block on North Fowler Road near the railroad tracks. There was a temporary camp in the area and it was reported that a woman was walking around setting fire. The fire was extinguished.

17th of September: A fire alarm went off at 10:13 p.m. in the Park Place Retirement Center on the 600 block off South Park Road. It was found that dust had triggered the alarm.

September 18: One caller reported that at 11:55 a.m., flames came from the roof of a house in the area of ​​Maringo Drive and Marguerite Road. Neighbors tried to put out the fire with garden hoses, and a tree is also said to be on fire. The fire was extinguished. A two-vehicle accident involving a child was reported at 5:22 p.m. on Sprague Avenue and Farr Road. The sheriff’s office responded.

September 19th: At 8:32 a.m., an appropriate alarm sounded at the Park Place Retirement Center. It was found that dust from a heater had triggered the alarm. At 3:16 p.m., a two-vehicle accident was reported on the railroad in Block 13200 on East Indiana Avenue. Union Pacific has been notified to stop travel through the area. Nobody was injured.

According to the numbers: The crews answered 426 calls in the week of September 13-19, including 346 calls for ambulance services. Other calls included 29 car accidents, a stove fire, and a fatal shot at a hotel on Sullivan Road near Mission Avenue.
