Spokane Public Library: Apple Science for Children

Last school year, the Spokane Public Library’s monthly Stuck-at-Home STEAM and Homeschool events focused on science, technology, engineering, art, and maths for kids. This year we will have a new name, “After-School STEM” and continue our homeschool series of events. The Spokane Public Library’s STEM librarian will share STEM topics through books, videos and hands-on learning experiences.

As we try our apples, we will try to answer the question of why some apples are different from others. Some are big, some small … some taste sweet, some sour … some are green, some yellow, some red, some mixed! We learn about apple varieties and the efforts of the Lost Apple Project to save the apple varieties that were grown here in east Washington over a hundred years ago.

Lost Apple Project

So get some apples from your tree in the garden, your grocery store or your farmers market and come and see us on October 8th or 12th!
