Spokane Police Arrest a Man for Violating a DV Court Order After Brief Evasion | news

Spokane Police on Wednesday arrested 18-year-old Ethan Beeman for violating a domestic violence injunction after briefly trying to escape police.

The SPD says it received a call about an attack in the 3400 W Queen Avenue area around noon on Wednesday. The caller reported that a man who was later identified as Beeman grabbed a woman and tried to pull her out of a vehicle while the woman yelled for help and stated that she was bleeding.

Officers arrived at the scene and found Beeman and a woman who matched the description, but no attack occurred at the time. When Beeman saw the officers, he left.

The officers had reasonable suspicions that a crime had occurred, but no probable cause. After further investigation, they were able to determine the likely cause of the attack on the woman. In addition, it was found that there was an active court order against domestic violence protecting the woman from Beeman, bringing the attack to the level of a crime order violation.

In this case, since the likely cause was quickly determined, Beeman was still in the vicinity of the incident. Several SPD units, including two K-9 units, were called in to track down the suspect. Beeman was found in the area and kept running away from the police, ducking through courtyards and jumping over fences in the process.

The officers were able to catch up with Beeman and arrest him for domestic violence violations and disability.
