The Spokane Chiefs have acquired forwards James Form and Chase Bertholet and a WHL Prospects second-round draft pick 2024 from the Winnipeg ICE in exchange for striker Jack Finley and a seventh-round 2024 pick, the team announced on Monday.
Finley, a sixth overall win in 2017, captained the team and made 152 games for Spokane with 36 goals and 57 assists.
Form, a center based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has scored nine goals and five assists in 82 games for Winnipeg – originally a third-round pick in 2017. Bertholet is in his sophomore year and has 10 goals and 16 assists in 52 games.
Both players will be available for Spokane’s game in Portland on Friday.
“Moving a player and a person of Jack’s caliber is never easy,” said Scott Carter, general manager of the chief, in a press release.
Carter added that the move was made before Finley’s departure to World Juniors Camp to avoid a trade freeze.
“We look forward to seeing him move to professional ice hockey next season,” said Carter.
The Chiefs occupy fourth place in the WHL US Division with 15 points and a 6-12-2-1 record.
