South Hill apartment fire displaces family

SPOKANE, Wash. – Around 1:00 p.m. today, the Spokane Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on S. Regal St. in the Regal Ridge Apartments.

Companies arrived within five minutes of shipping. They immediately discovered smoke from an apartment on the first floor of a three-story apartment building. They quickly entered the unit and put out the fire while searching for any trapped residents.

The residents of the apartment were alerted by the alarm and evacuated before the fire brigade arrived.

A total of 30 firefighters worked to contain and extinguish the flames and successfully prevented major fire damage beyond the area in which it originated. A tumble dryer was found to be the cause of the fire.

Unfortunately, the fire displaced a family of three adults, a newborn baby, and numerous pets. The Red Cross helps the residents.

The complex’s owner said no official fundraiser is currently being set up, but donations for the family are being accepted at the front desk. Either money or physical items to help with what is lost are valued.
