Site of Everett Closed Church to be Developed into Housing – NBC Boston

The site of a now closed church in Everett is being converted into an affordable rental housing estate with 33 residential units for senior citizens, according to the authorities.

The project continues with more than $ 9 million tax-exempt bond issued by MassDevelopment on behalf of The Neighborhood Developers, Inc. The proceeds from the bond will be used to purchase, clear and prepare the former location of the St. Therese community.

The proposed facility will include 30 one bedroom units and three two bedroom units. Nineteen units are rented to households earning no more than 60% of the median area income and 14 units are rented to households earning no more than 30% median area income.

The development will also include a common room, fitness room, shared laundry, central air conditioning and 58 parking spaces. The parish of St. Therese was closed in 2004 and the property cleared at the end of 2020.

The Neighborhood Developers, Inc. is a not-for-profit development company headquartered in Chelsea with 488 affordable homes in the area.
