Seven residents were displaced by a house fire in the Spokane Valley | news

SPOKANE VALLEY, WA – A fire in a Spokane Valley apartment complex on Wednesday evening displaced seven residents.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department says a total of 12 units responded to the fire at Block 6800 on East 2nd Avenue by 7:30 p.m. A neighbor had called 911 and said they could see flames in one of the apartments through the front window.

When the crews arrived, they began aggressively attacking the flames that had completely engulfed the apartment. Other crews searched the adjoining apartments to make sure no one was inside.

They were able to put down the fire before it spread to neighboring units, but two other units suffered smoke and water damage. A total of seven residents were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross was contacted to help the residents.

The SVFD says several smoke alarms were working properly and could be heard in the apartments and would like to use this as a reminder to make sure your smoke alarms are working properly too.
