The Seattle Seahawks beat the Houston Texans 33:13 in Week 14, but the team did not go out of the game entirely healthy. After the game, coach Pete Carroll gave some updates on the injured Seahawks and one player will be out for some time.

Perhaps cornerback DJ Reed is the player Seattle can least lose. Reed suffered what Carroll called a chest bruise in the second half. Is that just me, by the way, or has Carroll used the word “contusion” more than ever this season?

A bruise is a bruise that, while painful, doesn’t usually mean a player can’t play. Carroll said after the game that he “wasn’t serious or anything. He was beaten up pretty well. ”This sounds a little more serious than a bruise and needs to be monitored during the week.

Defensive tackle and very good run Defender Bryan Mone injured his knee. Carroll called it a sprain but also said he wasn’t sure about the extent of the injury. Mone injured his other knee in week 13 but apparently was able to play week 14. However, Carroll seemed to be hinting that this injury could be a little more serious.

The worst injury suffered from Safety Gavin Heslop, who had his leg trapped under Texas receiver Nico Collins when Collins went down with a catch in less than 2 minutes of the game. Heslop appeared to have broken his leg. Heslop was left in Houston to undergo surgery while the rest of the team flew back to Seattle. The Seahawks can expect to do without Heslop for the remainder of the season.

No other Seahawks appeared injured and luckily Rashaad Penny played the entire game without injuring himself again. Penny had an explosive game (137 yards and 2 touchdowns at 16 carries). He’ll likely take the lead for the remainder of the season if his health keeps up.
