Seattle police arrest woman suspected of injuring 2 people with hatchet

A man and his mother were injured in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood over the weekend after they were reportedly beaten with a hatchet by a woman.

Should Seattle City Council blame the city for the rise in violent crime?

Initially, the two victims – a 40-year-old man and his 64-year-old mother – called 911 around 9 p.m. on Saturday to report the attack near 8th Avenue and James Street. The man suffered a “major cut in the shin” while his mother refused medical attention with “less severe injuries”.

The incident began after the man picked up a dollar bill from the floor, causing a woman to yell at her while brandishing a hatchet. The man struggled by hitting the suspect on the head with his skateboard.

Police found the suspect near where the attack is believed to have taken place and took him into custody. The suspect is being cared for for a head wound and after she is released from hospital, she will be admitted to King County Jail for assault.
