Jose Marmolejos and Taylor Trammell hit the home runs when the Seattle Mariners faced the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 on Monday night.

Corey Seager faced the Dodgers, who suffered their second consecutive defeat after eight wins.

The left-hander Justus Sheffield (1-1) from Mariners allowed three runs with four hits in 5 2/3 innings. He went three and struck six.

Seattle aides Will Vest, Anthony Misiewicz, Kendall Graveman and Rafael Montero together scored 3 1/3 goalless innings, and Montero came out of the jam for the third time in ninth.

With an out, Montero went on a 3-2 place on foot on the ninth batsman Edwin Rios, who only hit .138. This spawned Mookie Betts, who reached out when Montero hit him with a punch near the bat’s right wrist. Betts sat on the floor in the racket’s box with obvious pain and was tended by the Dodgers’ coach before taking over his base and putting the runners first and second.

However, Montero got Seager to play a double game, second baseman Sam Haggerty, to stop JP Crawford against first baseman Evan White and end the game.

Dodger’s right-hander Dustin May (1-1) gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits in five innings. He went one and struck eight.

Marmolejos got the Mariners going early and put a two-run shot in right field with two outs in the lower part of the first field after Ty France had played the single game.

Trammell, a rookie, made it 3-0 with a solo shot to center in the second.

The Dodgers had two runs in the third run when Betts doubled up with two outs and Seager hit the next field just above the wall in the middle.

The Mariners made it 4-2 in the fourth with an inexperienced run. With two outs, Luis Torrens achieved a fielding error from Dodger’s second baseman Chris Taylor. Trammell then set a 3-2 pitch for a double to the right.

The Dodgers pulled again in the sixth run. Justin Turner was out for a walk and Taylor was later hit by bad luck. With two losses, Zach McKinstry put a single with runs scoring in the middle.

That was it for Sheffield, but the Mariners bullpen could end the win.
